In my previous post, I wrote about Who I am and now It’s time to write about how I got started in all of this.

I am currently in first year College, but I started programming back in grade 7; just about 6 years ago. At first, I was working with Visual Basics 6. I was the kind of person that liked not only using things, but knowing how they worked. At the time, I played an online MMORPG and realized I could make tools that would make the game easier, or require less time playing. I could never learn from a book, I would have to sit down and decide what I wanted to do, then I would go from there, looking up functions and reading the API and understanding how to piece everything together. If I was to teach myself out of a book, I may have given up long ago.

Near the end of grade 10, I hosted my own game server for the online game Tibia. I had to work with managing a server, and working with C++ as well as some HTML and PHP. I ran this for a few months, and money was made from it. If I could do that all over I have many more monetization methods I could try out, but it just takes way too long to get one going and I don’t have the time.

In grade 10 at school, I took Computer Science and we were focusing on Visual Basics .NET. This was new to me, but the same general idea existed. Only me and one or two others had any prior programming experience, and we both did very well. In grade 11 and 12 I had taken Java. This was new to me, Visual Basics was practically English and now I had to learn new syntax and everything. Still, I ended with a very high mark, getting 100% on my grade 12 final. (Which I guess I did not post on my other blog before, I will get that posted once I get a chance)
