iPhone/iPad Multitasking
Written on April 19th, 2010 | 0 CommentsSo if you haven’t already heard, back on April 8th, Apple announced the release of the iPhone OS 4.0. This will be out for iPhones and iPod Touches in June, and for iPads sometime around October.
If you want to watch the entire keynote (over an hour long) then click here.
If you want to read a blogged version from people at the event, click here.
Or simply check out the features on Apple’s site.
The main focus of this version is Multitasking. Back when the iPhone was released, and more recently the iPad everyone was making fun of it for not having multitasking. If you pick up and use one of these devices, you will quickly see that multitasking is no big deal. Why do you need to open a news app and your twitter client at once? You cant read the news and write to twitter at the same time! Yes, background audio as they highlighted is a good idea. Other than that, i don’t like the fact that everything stays opened all the time.
The current developer versions of 4.0 are extremely buggy, but I’m sure things will be ironed out by the June 22nd release.
What do you guys think about Multitasking? Absolutely needed, or something you can live without?
I think it will be good if there is a system setting to completely disable it if we want to use our phone as it always has been…that way we can save CPU clock cycles and ram.
Why I Want an iPad
Written on April 19th, 2010 | 0 CommentsAt first when I heard about the iPad I thought it was a HORRIBLE idea. In fact, I even made a Facebook fanpage against it which now has about 250 fans: The iPad? More like the iTampon!.
At the time it just seemed like a giant iPhone, which I already own. I thought it was useless to have everything I already have, minus portability, in just a larger size. As app demonstrations began to surface my thoughts quickly changed. When there is something tons of people are talking about and I want to see all the opinions, like at the launch of the iPhone 3G I would fire up TweetDeck as I could watch multiple streams of info at once. It was so easy to see all the data. The iPhone did it similar, but not all the columns were visible in one view. The screen shots of Tweetdeck for iPad just blew me away. Everything was well presented and nicely shown just like the desktop version. I can imagine myself just sitting around my house and being able to consume information in this whole new way.
The note applications for it also seem amazing, I can use this in school on days when my laptop is not needed.
Still to this day, after over a year of owning an iPhone (First a 3G, now a 3Gs, and now surfacing is the proof of an iPhone 4g) every time I touch the screen I am still amazed at how easy it is. In the words of Steve Jobs, everything “Just Works”.
The Canada release was pushed back a month as they ran out of stock, but that’s no problem. I do plan on picking one up once they are available. I will just get the Wifi one as I can tether with my current 6GB data plan.
What are your thoughts?
(Don’t) Make Money From Twitter and (Waste Your Time) Have Fun
Written on April 1st, 2010 | 0 CommentsEDIT: Well, the quoted part below is what this post originally said. I am editing it to advise you all to stay away from MyLikes. If you earn too much, or gain too many referrals in their contests they will delete you. Not only did they do that to me, but they also now refuse to reply to any emails. I use to have no problem in getting replies from them, usually got a response within 10 minutes! I have sent about 5 since I was banned (which by the way, was my third time. The first two times they quoted a reason which was not true.) and have yet to get a reply.
What are your thoughts on MyLikes?
Quoted portion:
“Yes, you heard the title right! You can make money from Twitter AND have fun at the same time! All you really do is post things to your Twitter account that interest you. When people click the links, you profit. MyLikes is the service that runs this. Simply sign up, search for things you like and post them to your Twitter account!
Check it out, leave me a comment with what you think about it. Personally I like it better than all the other networks to make money from Twitter.
Toyota Promoting its Own Fix Your Gas Pedal Guides
Written on March 9th, 2010 | 0 CommentsThis is going to be a quick post, but I will do another one afterwords. I just came across this ad on Digg.com and found it a bit funny. It’s an advertisement by Toyota promoting a guide on how to fix your gas pedal!
If you didn’t know before, Toyota is going through some hard times right now as the gas pedals on some of their cars are sticking and causing accidents. I just find it funny how they are doing this!
Today in my Risk Assessment class, we actually touched on this and how holding data could be a potential risk. Yes, believe it or not, I was paying attention! Companies are required to hold on to their customer records and all data for at least 7 years. After that time, they are allowed ti dispose of it. Here’s the thing, if they do not dispose of it and a court asks for data from the last 20 years, if they do have it they MUST give it up.
Okay, but how is that a risk? Lets say Toyota has customer records from everyone who bought a certain car all the way back until the year 2000. Now, there is a class action lawsuit against Toyota for all owners of that car and everyone that has one will be granted $1000. The courts ask Toyota for their customer records back until the 1980s, obviously not expecting 30 years worth! If Toyota only had 7 years worth of data, they may only need to pay put $500 million in fees. If they kept data for the 10 year period, they would be paying out even more since they have more records of customers. There’s a little Risk and data management lesson for you!
Okay, I went a little off topic, this was suppose to be a small post just containing a picture! Any-who, here is the picture:

Some Updates!
Written on February 28th, 2010 | 0 CommentsI haven’t had much time to blog as much as I would have liked to recently. I have been working on quite a few projects! One is the new system…I planned on having BETA users by this week but that probably will not happen. There is news of Twitter coming out with its own ad network in the summer, and they will be shutting down the public api.
If Twitter creates their own advertising network, how will that effect the other ones? I am not too worried about that, it is the shutting down of the public API that I hope doesn’t happen! If they are to do this, it will force all applications to work through oAuth. This will prevent some applications from working, as well as allow Twitter to easily shut down any application they want. I have had 2 shutdown, without reason myself.
Today I started working more with CPALead which is an affiliate incentive network. I was with them for a few months, with just a single video on YouTube bringing me in less than 20 uniques a day. $70 in just a few months for doing absolutely nothing is not bad at all. I launched a new campaign today, but I don’t expect to earn much from that. It only cost me 90 cents for the domain and an hour of my time to do some writing. Just a few hours ago, I got 3 domains registered and am currently building back links for them. They will be using CPALead in the future as well as something unique I thought of. I will not spoil the niche, even though I have the best keyword domains in them. I will keep you all posted on how it goes!
Also, the @BrandonBlogs Twitter account was removed again, for no reason. I contacted Twitter about this and it says it may take up to 30 days for them to get back to me! In the meantime. I will be tweeting them on @Bncapps.
I have a week off school, so hopefully I can get a whole lot done. If you have any comments related to CPALead, such as your success, please leave them below! Also, what are you working on? I seem to always be busy and not have enough time in the day, do you all have that feeling too? Too much to do, not enough time…or the feeling that you MUST hop on board a certain money making scheme before its too late?
Leave a comment below with your thoughts! Remember, if you leave a valuable comment, you gain a back link!
